Questions & Answers
Question : where is the engine cylinder head temperature sensor for a 2000 lincoln ls v8?
my engine keeps saying its overheating, even though when i check it, its not actually hot, when i hook it up to the code reader it says "engine cylinder head temperature sensor detected high heat" so i bought a new sensor hoping that will solve the problem, but now i cant find the old one, its just a brass fitting with a wire harness on one side and a threaded probe on the other but i cant find it for the life of me, i have a 3.9 liter v8, same engine in jaguar type s if that helps, thanks for all the help.

Answer:
According to the factory service manual the Cylinder-head temperature sensor is located on the passenger side of the engine block, at the bottom of the number 3 cylinder intake port, (under the intake manifold). You will need to remove the intake manifold to replace it. No wonder you can't find it...... Parts and Labor are $19.68 for the sensor and 3.0 hours labor, so with tax and a intake gasket your looking at $350.00 clams. It is also possible the wire to the sensor has melted or grounded out, so if you can find the wire and disconnect it and see if your light goes out.

Question : My 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan is sputtering. New fuel injector needed?
I have a 1998 Grand Caravan, 3.8 liter, 80,000 miles. A month ago my car started hesitating and sputtering. The sputtering got so bad that the car wouldn’t even accelerate when I gave it gas, acting like it was flooded with fuel. It even backfired a little and produced a heavy fuel smell inside and outside the car. The “Service Engine Soon” light came on and I took it to the mechanic so they could read the trouble code. The “engine code reader” said that there was a problem with the fuel injector in the fifth cylinder and that the fuel injector was misfiring. The mechanics first replaced the spark plugs and spark plug cables. A few days later tho, the “Service Engine” light came on again with the same trouble code. They replaced the fuel injector in the 5th cylinder and again we got the same trouble code: bad fuel injector in the 5th cylinder. They then replaced the ignition coil, but this did not solve the problem either. The mechanics are baffled. Can you help?

Answer:
Mine did the same thing. It was the fuel filter which was located inside the fuel tank.

Question : 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan, do I need a code reader to read why my service engine light is on?
Can I simply turn on & off Ignition switch 3 times?

Answer:
If it is the service engine light it means the car needs servicing. Get "er done! If it is the check engine light, that has to do with emissions. Check the gas cap to see if its on properly. If the light does not turn off after a couple of days get it scanned it may be a sensor.

Question : Trouble code PO103 1997 Subaru Impreza?
I have a 97 Subaru Impreza with the 2.2L and automatic tranny, it has a little over 100K miles, recently it started running rough and a day or 2 after that it would run for about 15 seconds after starting it up and it would die. My step-father owns a wrecking yard and one of his employees has a engine code reader, he did a scan of the engine and it gave him error code 103, we called the subaru dealership in town and they said it was something to do with the MAF sensor, after searching on the internet it says this code is "Mass Air Flow Sensor Circuit High Input", what would cause this? We unplugged it and it runs now but it wants to stall when it is cold, it runs rich and gets about 10MPG, we cleaned the sensor and that didnt help much, and we cant hear any vaccum leaks, we've tried other sensors on the motor and this hasnt helped either. Any input would be appreciated thank you.

Answer:
So if you've checked the wiring from the MAF to the computer and you don't want to try replacing the MAF, then reconnect it and keep driving. What's your complaint with the way the car runs apart from the check engine light due to the MAF?? If the car drove ok, I'd just keep driving it or replace the MAF if you want to. Make sure the air intake ductwork to the intake manifold is tight so that all the air intake has to go through the MAF. Amateras above seems to know what she or he is talking about. You could try cleaning the MAF again with the CRC product below. You could also pay the Sabaru dealer for a diagnostic fee to see what the factory trained "experts" say is wrong.

Question : I need to locate where to plug in the OBD code reader on my 1995 Mercedes E320 Cabriolet?
My check engine light came on in my 95 E320 Cabriolet. I went to Advance Auto parts because they will let you use their OBD 1 and II code reader. On my other cars in the past there has been a place usually under the dash where you can plug it in to get a reading. I have checked everywhere I can think of and cannot locate where to plug it in on my Benz! I have even checked the web all over and can't seem to get an answer. Also, since it is a 95, do I need the OBD1 or OBD II? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have also checked under the steering column and looked for this cover that is supposed to open up but my car does not have that. It has a large panel that covers the underside of the dash which is bolted on and under that is wires, etc. No snap off covers of any kind.

Answer:
Under the hood, passenger side, close to the windshield is a 16 pin socket under a small cover. You will know when you find it. After you pop the cover each socket pin is marked 1-16. Remind Advance Auto Parts that even though your car is a 1995 it's still the older body type (like a 1994). The convertible carried over an extra year. They would have to give you the proper adapter for the kind of connection your car uses. I would actually be surprised if a retail store like that has the type of tool your car needs.

Question : Do they may an engine code reader for a 1989 Volvo 240 DL?
The check engine light is stuck on my car, and I plan on keeping the car for a while and working on it myself. Before I bring it to a mechanic I wanted to know if they make a code reader I can buy, so I know if I can fix it myself or have to bring it in.

Answer:
The car has an On Board Diagnostic port which is under your hood by your coolant reservoir. The is port A and port B. You want port A Take the cover off, and pull the plug off the cover and plug it into one of the center slots (1 slot is for fuel injection and the other center slot is for ignition) and with the key on, press and hold the button on the port for 2 seconds and release. There will be a three digit code. If there is no code it will be 1-1-1, if there is a code it will be something like 2-2-4 or 1-1-5 and so on. Follow the same procedure for more codes. After getting your codes, you will need a way to decipher them, which is another question you can ask to get the answer. I can tell you what they mean once you get the codes
