Question : 2001 chevy venture --- Slow take off and taking lots o gas with clear smoke coming out from tailpipe?
I replaced my engine three weeks ago as I blew up my head gasket. The mechanic assured me that I will be fine by replacing the engine. So I replaced by spending $2400 on it. And, now my van is consuming LOTS LOTS of gas. I barely go for 23 miles in $10(3 gallons) of gas. Also, my van is having a very very slow take off. I really realy have to put my foot on gas real hard to let he van take off and see lots of clear smoke from my tail pipe.
My engine light was on and through analyzer, I found out that mass air flow and O2 sensor are malfunction. Also, analyzer reported other three codes such as 408, 412, 443.
I replaced the MAF sensor and problems is still persisting. I have already spent sooo much on this van and I am not being comfortable spending any more.
Please help me out here and any advice will be helpful.
Answer:
how come you didnt go back to the guy who replaced the engine? He should have had it running perfect before he gave it back to you!!!!!!
Sounds to me like something is not hooked up right. Mayeb an O2 sensor unplugged. Maybe a coolant temp sensor unlugged or plugged in the wrong place. Have him go back over all his work and dont take the van untill it is running right!

Question : 2001 Hyundai Elantra - Transmission range sensor circuit malfunction?
The check engine light comes on sometimes but usually turns back off soon. The car never had a problem driving. A few weeks ago, the engine light came on. A few days passed and nothing seemed wrong, until I tried to start my car one night. It seemed like it was about to crank but couldn't completely start. After three times, it finally started, and this has happened a few more times. I took it to a friend and he said that I needed a new air filter, injector fluid cleaner, and other cleaner spray he can put through the system (I can't remember the name). I bought the air filter and injector fluid at Advanced Auto Parts, and I got them to use a engine analyzer machine on my car. This is what the machine said: P0456 ECAP Emission Control System Leak Very Small, P0455 EVAP Emission Control System Leak (Large), and P0705 Trans Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction. How much would it cost to fix the transmission range sensor circuit malfunction? How does one fix this? What else could be the prob?
Also- My air filter was filty (I drive on dirt roads a lot). when I lifted up the air filter, I found dirt, which I vacuumed out. I replaced the filter already. The guy at Advanced Auto told me not to worried about the first two problems, but to worry about the transmission problem first.
Also, I don't know if this helps - but sometimes it takes my car a few seconds to accelerate when I drive, like my car is having trouble shifting gears (it's an automatic).
Sorry if this doesn't make sense. I am a complete car idiot. I don't know if I should worry this much or if it's something to worry about. I don't know what to do next! And I think I'mdriving my dad and boyfriend crazy with my worrying haha.
Thanks for your answers.
Paul, after I put the new air filter in and also put injector fluid into my full gas tank, it accelerates a lot better.
Also, I had lost my gas cap and bought a new one the day the guy at advanced auto parts used the machine on my car.
Now the only things I'm worried about are:
Number one- the transmission range thing? My power steering pump is shot, would that have anything to do with that?
Number two- Someone advised me to buy injector fluid spray so they could spray it into the system. I haven't been able to find it. Is there another name for it?
Answer:
the EVAP codes are from the gas cap.
the trans range sensor is not only a neutral safety switch(only allows car to be started in park or neutral)but also tells the trans controller(computer) what gear you are in.if the computer gets the wrong signal you will have shifting problems. as far as how much money? depends if the switch is bad?an electrical short?bad computer?
and dont listen to these people telling you to put additives in your car they often do more harm than good.
change all your fluids and filters regularly!

Question : i have a 99 jeep cherokee limited 4.0l that has an intermitent shuddering the check engine light is on?
the analyzer said possible # 6 cyl misfires put new plugs and wires also says malfunction in electric torque converter, also
tps malfunction, also pedal position sensor jeep runs good
90% of time than wammy takes a fit any suggestions
Answer:
first of all, have all the faults cleared, and see what comes back.you might have fixed the misfire faults with the wires and plugs.the tps(throttle position sensor) is the same as pedal position sensor.the tps is one of the inputs that controls the torque converter clutch (tcc) to engage and release.if the sensor reading to the power train control module(pcm) which controls the lock up of the tcc is giving an erratic signal to the pcm, this could make the clutch shudder(on and off) and will also effect the way the engine runs too.I have seen this happen before in the past, after the engine gets up to temp.the internal sweep inside the tps will warp from the heat.they are about $40-$70 from a dealer(recommends) vs.aftermarket which might not last as long.good luck.

Question : Give me your opinion insights and summary or how you understand this..?
Give me your opinion insights and summary or how you understand this..?
Answer:
Reality check.
The philippines has good sound laws but corrupt political influences always delay the implementation of these laws.
By the time these laws are enforced, they become so obsolete that another law must be passed (just like the politicians who regularly pass gas - i.e. fart through their mouth).

Question : There is an idle mixture adjustment on the engine of my 95 E320. What is the correct procedure to set this?
The idle mixture adjustment has a knurled wheel which has about 10 full turns of possible adjustment. In an attempt to set the mixture, I have ended up with a very annoying "lean stumble" when driving the car away from a stoplight, mostly in 1st and 2nd gears at engine speeds below 2000 RPM. How should this adjustment be made to provide a usable air fuel mix at low engine speeds? The car has only 35K miles and has not been abused or tinkered with. Is the mixture richer or leaner when the wheel is turned clockwise?
Is there a procedure which utilizes the CA smog test machines on the air fuel diagnostic analyzer?
Answer:
YOU DON'T ADJUST IT AT ALL.
YOU SHOULD GET THE VEHICLES COMPUTER SCANNED AND CHECK FOR ANY PROBLEMS AS WELL AS CODES AND THEN YOU WILL HAVE A GOOD IDEA ON WHAT THE PROBLEM TRULY IS.
TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR A CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE OVERALL MORE PLEASED WITH THE FINDINGS AND THE SERVICE.

Question : So... I am preparing to take the L1 this spring...?
It's kinda making me nervous. Are you a certified master? Is there anything you can tell me (without cheating) that will help me get ready for the test? I'm certified in engine performance and hvac, the tests were fairly easy, been the driveability tech for the last 11 years at 3 different shops, and so yes I'm proficient and expedient, no comebacks, no misdiagnoses, obviously confident enough to brag (haha).
So is the test as hard as it sounds? To me, it seems a little biased because, although the composite vehicle is accurate and the composite veh. manual has excellent info and specs, there are several different regions of the country that are not required to test emissions, thus the technicians in these areas would not have exposure to the 5 gas analyzer or subsequent emissions training. Also, the composite vehicle lacks a tire pressure monitor system wich is standard on all makes and models.
What do you think? Did you pass the first time or have to take it two or three times?
Answer:
JUST STUDY GUIDES,READ THE QUESTIONS CLOSELY THERE JUST LIKE THE ENGINE PERFORMANCE THERE WILL BE GAS ANALIZER AREA QUESTIONS,EVAP,ELECTRICAL AND TRANSMISSION I PASSED IT FIRST TIME FLYING COLORS. GOOD LUCK.

Question : Placing Website On Search Engine Listing?
I have created mega tags for my website, and i have analyzed it with an analyzer, which says it is good, but I do not see my site on the first couple of pages of the search engine...
Can anyone tel lme what I am doing wrong?
www.photographsketching.com
Answer:
Metatags are merely just one element of getting top search engine rankings. There are on page factors (title, tags, content, keyword density) and off page factors (linking)
Make your pages easy to index. Think about the terms that visitors will use to search for your information and make sure your pages include those words. Provide a unique title tag and meta description tag for each page. Use descriptive anchor text when linking to other pages of your site (e.g., "Obtain the latest federal tax forms for 2006" instead of "Click here for 2006 federal tax forms")
Make your pages easy to find. Provide an HTML sitemap that contains links to pages deeper in the site. On your home page, include links to the major sections inside the site. If your site includes many pages, consider creating a browsable set of links that enables the visitor to choose a category, then see links within that category.
Make sure search engines can access the content. Ensure pages of your site can be reached without cookies, registration, session IDs, or forms. Verify that your site isn't blocked with a robots.txt file and that search engines don't receive errors when trying to access your pages. (You can check both of these things using Google's webmaster tools.)
Don't be an island. Responsibly interact with related sites to garner natural links, and -- more importantly -- mindshare. .
Study the source. Regularly review search engines' often-updated official written advice (e.g., Webmaster Guidelines, blogs, etc.).

Question : What is the best way to improve my web page ranking if I have php pages?
In php you have the head.txt and foot.txt plus the content page. The head.txt & foot.txt is nice because you only need to put your logo and navigation bar in one time.
The search engines always look at the head.txt first for the title and meta-tags. So if I put the title and meta-tags in the head.txt then the search engine is happy and it seems as if the content page is referenced properly. Well, the only problem with this is that I have to have a different head.txt for each one of my 500 pages. This kind of defeats the purpose of having a simple head.txt or header that is common for each page.
I tried taking the title and meta-tags out of the head.txt and leaving it in the content pages, and I get all kinds of errors if I use any type of web page analyzers. They say I have no title or meta-tags.
I think I'm stuck with making 500 unique head.txt pages unless I can install some code in the head.txt that will refer all of the search engines and robots to only look at the content page
Answer:
This one might get a bit long, but i'm not busy so hey...
Php is a server side script that runs when a page is called. We will say for example, index.php. I will venture a guess and say you are using include("head.txt") somewhere in your index.php.
Now, I guess alot, but if I am right, follow along.
If these 500 pages are in the same site, you should probably keep the same keywords if the site is themed correctly. If not, consider using a database or a table to have all the data in one place easily accessible.
My next guess is that you want to change the page title for each page. I usually prefer one title across pages, but you can do this with come creativity. $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] is a string that is the file name of the page. http://us2.php.net/dirname explains dirname() that can give the directory your script is running in. These together can be used for the primary key in a database. Then you can pull what you need. Overly complicated? A little...
Or, you can have your structure in one file, content in another and variables in a third.
