No drivers available- DO NOT BUY!
Don't buy this product. There are no Actron downloadable drivers or files available and they cannot tell you when they may be available. It is a complete waste of money!

Nearly two years of waiting for updates!
The CP9137 has been around for nearly two years and Actron still has no updates available! Don't bother with this cable until they do!
Rating :
Waste of money
I bought this cable to go with the OBD II scanner I also bought at Amazon. It's supposed to allow you to get updates from the Internet. But when I went to Actron's website they reported online updates weren't available yet. So why did they sell me the cable?? Pretty expensive cable that has no use other than to fatten their coffers.

Top Notch Quality
Very high quality product. Everything from purchase to shipping was very efficient. Good communication.

could not check OBD1 for suzuki sidekick
Really this scanner overpriced. I could not check my Zuki 1995, but i think i need additional cable. It is perfect for OBD2
Rating :
OK but overpriced for limited functionality
Yes, the 3120 is easy to use to retrieve error codes but BEWARE; it does not display live operational data, it is limited to just what is recorded in the vehicle computer memory. For only that, its price is not justifiable.
My mistake in missing the distinction between the 3120 and 3130 in the on-line product descriptions. My mistake in buying the more expensive 3120 instead of the much more capable and less expensive 3130.

Excellent Product
I was undecided whether to get a software based scanner that you install on your laptop or this. I chose this becauise it does OBD1 &OBD2 and is rugged, all cables and conectors are provided, very easy to use and does an excellent job. It took me some getting used to but once I did, it is well worth the money. I too wanted to see live data but can't justify the extra cost just to see live data when you can get the data from the obc when the fault occurred. Anyways this tool has helped me fix my truck and it is also helping me with my SUV.

Disappointed with Equus 3120
Equus 3120
I was disappointed in this unit because I could not check my 1989 F250 nor my 1994 Geo Tracker.

Bang for the buck
This is a class "A" scanner for the money. It employs all the protocols including CAN. The only vehicles it won't work on that i am of aware of are 1995 General Motors "S" & "T" series trucks. As an ex-aircraft mechanic I am very satisfied with this product for the price.Equus 3130 Diagnostic Code Scanner with Live, Record and Playback Data Capability for OBDII (Post-1996) Vehicles

CP9150
Order was here FAST. I have played with scan tools from 1980 to date so know how they work. I got this 1 and in a few moments had used it on my Van (Dodge's) and Truck. I did see complaint's about what it WON"T do, and that it is a CP9145 in the case. Hey, read the add, its updated to CP9150, and not only for cables but programing. With OBD, it can work on about anything you connect it to. This is a great tool for not only DYI, but 1 that will work in a repair shop also. Like I said, I have only a few moments of use with it and for CEL problems, it was fast, and easy to use. Great tool, great price ...........

"Great"
I'm very satisfied with the unit. It works as described and its very easy to use. Recently my engine light went on. I pluged the scanner in and found a problem code to be coming from the o2 sensor after the catalytic. After further review I found it to be minor exhaust leak. In a previous instance I was able to reset the light. Thank you.

Equus 3100 scanner
My tech's that use it are very pleased with the performance of the scanner and we have ordered another one for one of our other stores

Needs USB connection
Works well, but it needs a usb connection. Had to buy an adapter to make it work with my laptop.
Rating :
Works as described
This OBD reader works exactly as described and is easy to use. I have used it twice already, saving me untold dollars at the repair shop. The only suggestion, it would have been nice if it had a USB connection to the computer instead of an outdated serial port but a good quality converter was only about $35 to resolve this issue.

Questions & Answers
Question : My 1998 Ford Escort wont start?
I was driving on the free way and experienced a sudden loss of power, as i coasted off the freeway and came to a stop the engine died and wouldn't re-start. The motor turns over but wont fire. I changed spark plugs and wires, checked fuel filter for flowage and went down to Auto Zone and rented a diagnostic tool which tells me "PASS [no codes were detected]" I'm stumped and don't know what to do next.
whats the easiest way to check the timing belt?
I am also getting spark from the spark plug wires
I removed the oil filler and looked down it while i turned the engine over and nothing moves in there.. i also noticed a square shaped chunk of metal cut out that i dont know if its supposed to be there or not
Answer:
You know why? Because its a 1998 Ford Escort, that's why!

Question : Shutting off warning lights on new Audi/VW autos.?
chalupas_and_beer ask this question a couple days ago and the answers were weak. What you need is a vagcom from Ross Tech. With this diagnostic tool which you connect to the obd-II and a laptop. You can read/reset all fault codes. And you can modify certain parameters. Such as turning off DRL, Remote window lowering, or log engine stats. It costs $150 and is worth every penny. You could also borrow one, TDIclub.com has a list of registered vagcom users who are willing to help. I know this is not a question but the previous answers did not answer the question. The correct answer is Vagcom.
Answer:
Yeah I feel like a Ross-tech salesman everytime I have to answer a stinkin CEL question because I have to do it every other time, and nobody listens. Its not a legit question posting but kudos anyway.

Question : Auto diagnostic training?
Hi everyone I'm looking for a training program that would teach me the skills i need to do engine diagnostics. I dont have much knowlege about it but my dad tells me its a good field to get into. I cant find anything usefull on the web but What i want to bassicaly do is purchase the diagnostic tools and software to connect them to my laptop and learn how to use it to determine what what is wrong with a car, I will not be repairing it just diagnosing it. Also I'm only interested in equipment for japanese and european cars. So if anyone can help me with ideas on how to get started with this, or references to courses, or even what tools I should get, please inform me that would help me out tremendously.
Again thank you
Answer:
I work for Ford [which includes Volvo, Mazda, Jaguar, Land rover etc] and getting a job as a diagnostics engineer is superb but very complex. This end of the diagnostics chain is best because you get to design the diagnostics capability of the system BUT as a diagnostics engineer for a garage, you just read codes [VERY EASY!] and say whats wrong, not much to it.
Tools such as WDS/IDS [maybe Ford specific] are worth investigating, which read off diagnostics code and if you know the ECU Supplier, they can provide what the codes mean.
I trust this helps? I would really appreciate it if you could please rate me as BEST ANSWER :-)

Question : Can you Help with Check Engine Light?
Hi, I have a 91 geo metro and the check engine light came on. I dont want to get ripped off at a shop so I took my baby to the professionals at auto zone for a diagnostic. The 8 dollar an hour professional came out and plugged the scan tool (code reader) in, and had a few codes pulled. First was cylinder 5 misfire, I am thinking this is an O2 sensor, that's what they told me. Also code 420 they said it was my cat or egr, bought them both and installed them. Then po171 and po174 bank 1 lean and bank two lean, they sold me a TPS and IAC valve, installed them. Now I go back for a warranty code read (no charge) and my ac stopped working. They said I was low on r134a and they could "recharge" it for me in the parking lot for 35 dollars parts and labor, so I said why not. A day later my freon be stopped working and I have warm air. I live in Arizona and it's 96 here during the days now. They then sold me a can of r12 and said to put it in myself. I just want my car fixed, can jiffy lube help
Answer:
Problem 1. Cylinder 5 misfire, change the turbo bearings.
Problem 2. AC blowing hot air, have the radiator fan rewired for it is blowing the engine heat on to your condenser instead of away from it. They should have told you that when you add R134a to a R12 system that the fan must be reversed. I am sorry that they did not.
If you are near Phoenix AZ take the car to the Jiffy Lube at the corner of Cheatem and Howl and ask for Dewey. He should fix you right up. Tell him Tom and Ray sent you, that way he will give you a real good deal.

Question : 01 chevy mailbu w/auto trans at times the car will loose power and the rpm goes very low. Any suggestions?
I can do highway or city driving and it makes no difference.I have had the car tuned up, however the engine lite is on. A friend of mine put a diagnostic tool on the car and said that the code (whcih i don't recall) said it usually indicates a poor seal of the gas cap.Any help would be appreciated.
Answer:
Losing power while driving is a classic symptom of a plugged catalytic converter...while driving, it just starts slowing down, even if you push more on the gas.
It will buck a little while it does this, because exhaust is back pressuring, preventing the free flow of gases.
It might not be that, but it sure sounds like it...

Question : Trouble Code P0740 for 97 Honda Accord? Big Problem?
Recently my Check Engine light came on and I used a diagnostic tool i rented and the code was P0740. I looked it up online and on some forums and it said Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Malfunction. How serious is this? I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it but for the past I'd say 5 years when the car is shifting from 2nd to 3rd (automatic), it would feel like the gear is slipping and rpm would rev high for a split sec and then "catch" on. But only recently my check engine light came on with that code. My car is a 97 Accord EX auto with 173k miles on it. I'm getting a new car end of Oct, so I don't want to end up spending a ton of money on this car unless it's necessary. I read that it can be faulty solenoids or wiring. Anyone have a better idea?
Answer:
Get the transmission fluid and filter changed immediately. I had the same code with my 01 Dodge Stratus and it cost me a transmission. If the car is not shifting any better after you get the fluid and filter replaced, have it checked out. My transmission came apart inside but it might not have cost me so much if I had had it looked at.

Question : IAT mod chip for 01 Infiniti error code p1165?
Can some one please help me with a little problem I have? I bought one of those cheap IAT MOD "chips" (resistor) off of EBAY and now my check engine light is on. I know that there is no real problem. Once the check engine light came on, I removed the resisitor and plugged the IAT sensor back in after disconnecting the battery first. Is there any easy to reset the code with out a diagnostic tool or going to the dealership? I went to a auto parts store and they said that they are not allowed to reset errors. I need to have my car inspected by the end of the month and was just wondering if I left my battery unplugged for a few hour if, the error would reset. Any tips would be helpful. Thanks!
Answer:
nah you will need a scanner, why dont you just pay a shop to turn it off?
