To verify that your vehicle is covered by this application go to actron.com - Access the on-board computer - Trouble codes flash on dashboard "Check Engine" light or computer module Covers: - Toyota - Honda - Nissan

Customer Review :

Trouble Code Scanner does not actually scan

If you open up the Actron CP9025 you will see the only thing it does is short two contacts so the trouble light on the dash will flash the stored codes. If you have the codes for your vehicle then you do not need the book that comes with the Actron CP9025. If you do not have the codes, then the book may be worth paying for the "scanner". You can do as much with a paperclip as you can with this misnamed product.

Not a lot of help

I hooked it up and the unit sent a signal back to the dash with a series of flashes using the check engine light indicator. Looked up the problem codes and replaced the part (over $200.00 US) that was the the probable cause and the problem resurfaced. The unit is not equipped with accurate data read outs to give you enough data. Using the unit on my 1987 Supra was a waste of time and money.

Code Reader

This item is for older Japanese cars, but very useful if you have one. The package only contains a manual that tells you how to recover the codes on cars it applies to, what the codes mean and a few tools (jumpers, etc) necessary if they are called for. The system worked as advertised, and Actron shipped promptly.

Incredible Tool

I'm just a shade tree mechanic, but this tool is really handy when working on newer cars. I found it straight-forward and user-friendly. You can really save yourself a lot of money by diagnosing your own car with this scanner.

I know other companies sell scanners, many of them are thousands of dollars,(I think Snap-On sells one that is over $6,000!) but this scanner performs about 95% of the tasks the high-end ones do, at a much cheaper price. It has all the necessary adapters to work on any car with an on-board computer, and it gives you all the diagnostic info in real time.

Mechanics and dealers have to hate these things because of all the money it saves consumers in repairs.

Easy Analysis

I did quite a bit of research before purchasing this product. The product was shipped immediately. I really appreciate the case it comes with. I have used the product on two vehicles. However, I own 5 different vehicles and it will test all five! It has provided accurate analysis for each situation. The best part, its web-upgradeable so that I'll never have to purchase another analyser. I got such a deal, it came with the EZ-Charge 200, now I can also easily find problems with a charging system. Fantastic product!

Stay away from AutoXray

I purchased the EZ-Scan 6000 directly from SPX, the manufacturer, through an upgrade offer on my original EZ-Link. The unit was received without the software disk which is supposed to be included with of the EZ-Scan Tool Kit. I had to call tech support to have it shipped to me. Once received, I tried to boot up the unit. I won't boot up, instead only whistles with no display then shuts off. (I suspect that I was sent a refurbished or returned unit, not a new one.) Once again a call to tech support service, When they receive this unit back they will send me a new one. Let's hope it works or it will show on my credit card before before I have a working unit.

Worth every penny

It does an awesome job integrating with my laptop. The interface is pretty good and the drawback comes from the fact that you have to try different software applications until you find one that works on USB. Once you get the right software (freeware) and place the laptop where you get minimal glare or inside the garage it works pretty good diagnosing and troubleshooting.

Check Engine Light On? Check This Out. . .

Do you have a "CHECK ENGINE" light on? You will. And when it does come on you have some choices as to what to do. You can take your car in to get it serviced (and spend more money) or you can get an OBD2 meter (and save money). I looked at a few devices and decided to go to OBD Diagnostics, Inc. The product, OBD2 ALL-IN-ONE scan tool did just what it was designed to do. It connects between the cars OBD2 port and my notebook computer. I loaded the drivers and software and the car was talking to my computer within a few minutes. The tool "found" the problem and I was able to fix the problem. I would have given a five star rating but there was no software docs. If you like to DIY, you need this tool

Question : Service engine soon light?
My service engine soon light came on my 1997 nissan 200sx and I had the vehicle scanned at Autozone in which the code for throttle position sensor came up on the scanner. I bought the part and attempted to change it. I had a difficult time changing it myself and decided to have a mechanic change it the next day. The next morning when I started the car to go to work the light wasn't on anymore. So now I have been driving the car for a couple of days and the light still hasn't came on. Does this mean that the fault code fixed itself or should I drive the car a few more days to see if the fault reappears before getting my money back for the part that I purchased.

Question : Someone help ID the code from an OBD-II Scanner?
We used an OBD-II scanner to identify the problem on our '98 Chevy Astro Van. The code it gave was P1351. The vehicle won't start/run. We have looked online for the code ID but all the codes we get are for a 3.1 engine. We need the code for a 4.3 ENGINE. Is there any way you can pin-point exactly what the problem is? or know where we can find the code's ID?

Question : my appologies for not being more spacific?
this is on my 1994 chevy s10 truck the truck runs and on occasion it decides to stop running, its not throwing any trouble codes at all but the vehicles computer will not talk to my scanner and when in self diagnostic mode it only sends acknowledgment code, and that is all when it dies it usualy after being driven.ive replaced pugs, cap, rotorcap and ignition modual.fuel pressure is supposed to be good as stated this is intermitent, because there is no warning when it does it and it stays down for at a minimum of a half an hour to a hole day

Answer:
The computer sounds bad happened the exact same thing to my friends Beretta

Question : Diagnostics?
Why do people think a diagnostic of a vehicle with a running problem is nothing more than "pulling with a scanner" a "code"? Doing diagnostics for over 20 yrs now, just because a code is in the computer doesn't mean that part is bad. So why then does Autozone sell you a part just because it has for example a code for an O2 sensor? Does that mean than you are going to buy a transmission because it sets a trans code? Trained techs do more than pull a code, charge you 80 bucks and put a part in, because most are not the fault of a sensor. If you get your "free" scan from autozone and it doesn't fix your complaint, does autozone stand behind you and let you return a electrical part?

Answer:
yes , good points both of you , also what a lot of people ( techs and tourists ) forget is that under all the wiring and sensors is an internal combustion engine , how many sensors and computers have been replaced when bent push rods or collapsed compression rings are the true culprit ? i took automotives in school ( while the earth was still cooling ) and saw that the industry was going to be in turmoil for many years until the electronic stuff was sorted out so i kept auto repair as a hobby , my hat is off to you guys that need a degree in computer science as well as knowing how to best beat apart a reluctant ball joint.

Question : 1988 Ranger problems part 2?
well i am back .. and i changed the MAP sensor and i checked out the ignition module... did a fuel filter change and a Fuel Pressure Regulator change .... its the famous 2.9 V6 and for those of you who know there is no EGR on this motor . .. i am still having problems with the truck dogging down while driving almost as if ... the fuel filter was clogging or something but yet ... the truck will idle all day long and no problem and rarely stalls .... and the check engine light doesnt come on ... and i bought one of these . Actron code scanners for Ford and the only thing i get is ... the Oxygen Sensor is running lean and does not switch .. and i have done replaced the Oxygen sensor in a vehicle before with .... with the same problem it was running rich or lean and changed it and it told me the same afterward .. so i cant think it is that sensor either ...... ... doesnt seem to be any Vacuum leakes .. and when it dogs out seems to put out a bit of smoke black smoke ... any ideas anyone?

Answer:
Check the forums here if nothing else comes up---http://www.therangerstation.com/ Black smoke would indicate running too rich--could be semi- plugged cat converter? If O2 is new and still get a code, maybe the wiring or connector is corroded---will give a false signal to the computer. You'd need a service manual with specs for O2 output signal to check. Could be a fuel leak in the carb/injector...maybe run some FI cleaner through the system a few times.

Question : We have a 99 Chrysler that was Towed "No Start"?
Here's the story, a 300M was towed in to us with a no start condition. With a generic OBDII scanner no codes were returned, and the vehicle started upon the first try, we left it for several hours in the cold, again it started right up and was easily pulled into the service bay where I put our OTC Nemesis on it, thru the OEM link, i pulled a crank sensor code. which I then replaced.I then changed the oil and left for the evening. Upon returning to the shop in the morning, the 300M was not starting. So then, we replaced the cam sensor on a blind stab since the 300M would not kick out any other codes. Still, the vehicle will not start, I pulled the plugs to find them soaked with gas, cleaned and reinstalled, not start, warranteed them out for new, still no start, still flooding. After pulling a coil and grounding it and the spark, spark is clean and white, so i stuck a computer in it on my day off, problem still exists.

Answer:
Hook up a timing light and check for proper ignition timing. If thats OK, Hold the gas pedal to the floor and crank it over for 10-15 seconds to clear out all the residual gas in the intake. If the plugs are wet, there is WAY too much gas, or not enough air going to the engine.

Question : snap on code scanner?
i have a snap on code scanner and using generis obd-II function i got the code p1251 which is an undocumented code under generic use. can anyone tell me what this code means? the vehicle is a 99 saab 95 turbo 5 speed.

Answer:
P1251 17659 Cold Start Injector Short To B+
